Are you aware that your pro-life vote has been hijacked? It’s true. All too often in Georgia politics pro-lifers are deceived, shammed, and robbed of their vote by PRINOS (pro-life in name only). It has been all too easy for candidates to say they are “pro-life”, receive the proper “pro-life” endorsements, get elected on that stance, only to do nothing to prove to their constituents that they truly care about the Personhood of all human life. This isn’t just about your vote. This isn’t about the men and women who pledge to protect your vote. This is about the over 88 babies every day that lose their lives in abortion mills across our state. This is about the thousands of undocumented fragile humans that lose their lives in research laboratories and fertility clinics throughout our towns and cities.
So what exactly has happened to your voice under the Gold Dome? You, well meaning, conservative, pro-life citizens have done your duty. You have gone to the polls time and time again and cast your vote for candidates that pledged to be “pro-life”. Yet, has a single piece of pro-life legislation even made it to the House floor for a vote in recent years? NO. We have a “pro-life” majority in the GA House and still no pro-life legislation can be passed. You may be asking yourself, has any been filed? Absolutely! Year after year true pro-lifers file good legislation that would save lives and year after year it is stalled in committee. In fact during the 2010 session SB 529 (the Prenatal Non Discrimination Act) was actually passed out of committee – actually it was passed out of committee several times and voted on and passed by the Senate. However, it was stopped by the only person that can keep a piece of legislation from being heard on the House floor – Speaker David Ralston.
Speaker Ralston is a classic example of a legislator who has hijacked the votes of his constituents. He tells the good people in his district that he is pro-life, yet he hasn’t let a single piece of pro-life legislation be voted on during his time as Speaker. He is in control and he is NOT representing pro-lifers.
So, what are we to do? First, we need to hold these guys and gals accountable. When they tell us they are pro-life we need to ask them what they intend to do about it. We need to demand that they represent us instead of following blindly after the House leadership. Most importantly, we need to talk to our friends, neighbors, and those in our district and educate them about the pro-life issues in our state. Our legislators need to know that we will not allow our pro-life votes to be hijacked. We will vote them out if they don’t follow through with the positions they ran and were elected on. We will vote PRO-LIFE, not PRINO.
